The fundamental difference.

heycar is a classified and lead-generation platform owned by Volkswagen Financial Services UK. The original parent company, heycar Group, went into liquidation in 2025. VWFS acquired the UK assets into a new subsidiary, having invested over £250M since the platform launched. Revenue for the old parent was £7.4M in FY23, with no audited accounts yet published for the new entity.
heycar lists approximately 76,000 vehicles (down from around 91,000). Dealers pay for leads, and the platform also brokers car finance through VWFS. The business is ultimately controlled by a car manufacturer with its own brands to promote.
