Frequently Asked Questions

We get it... MMC is different! Which means you've almost certainly got questions.

Below you'll find answers to the questions we're most regularly asked.

How To FAQs

Why are there no images of vehicles on MMC?

At Matt's Motor Club, we prioritise strategic information over images for several important reasons:

Member-Focused Strategy: What a vehicle looks like should not be your primary focus. Sure it's how most people buy cars, but there lies the problem, they're focusing on emotion, not data. Our service is designed to empower you, the member, with in-depth knowledge such as pricing forecasts, dealer insights, and market trends. This data-driven approach enables you to make informed decisions ahead of time without being influenced merely by the visual appeal of a vehicle.

Strategic Confidentiality: One of the reasons we call them "Secret Steals" is because we identify them without the dealer's knowledge. Revealing images potentially alerts dealers more quickly, and makes them less "secret" 😉

Copyright Concerns: To respect copyright laws and ensure we operate within legal boundaries, we avoid hosting or displaying vehicle images directly on our platform. This approach also helps us maintain a respectful relationship with dealerships.

It Works With Holidays: Think about how some of the most popular holiday deal newsletters and apps work. You'll receive an email or push notification about the deal with a generic holiday image, the holiday location, the duration of the trip, the board type and of course the savings/price. If you're interested only then do you click through to view the hotel, choose your room type, the dates of the trip, the airline you'll be flying with, the airport you're flying from and read reviews etc. The fact is that this "Deal/Steal First" strategy works for holidays, and believe us, it works for cars too. 😎

Dealer Images Are Dull As Dishwater: Sure a few dealers get it right but the vast majority are not blessed with the next David Bailey in their ranks and certainly wouldn't win any awards on creativity. To counter this we've come up with our own initiative using what we call "Seasons" and a little bit of AI. It's fun, visually rewarding and helps to organise our listings.

Once a vehicle catches your interest through our alerts, we encourage you to visit the dealer's website directly for the most current and comprehensive images and details. This ensures that you have access to the latest information directly from the source, maintaining both the integrity of the information and the exclusivity of the deals.

Service FAQs

What makes Matt's Motor Club different?

I'm a guy with an Apple Mac who, through years of practice, has become incredibly efficient at finding used motors for a bargain and sniffing out motors that are ripe for a discount.

I'm NOT a dealer or an agent, and I won't be spamming your inbox with countless "LAST CHANCE - BEST OFFER - BUY NOW" pretend deals.

Whilst I've been immersed in the motor trade for much of the last decade my real passion is using the internet, tech and AI in innovative ways to save time & money.

So...

You won't find me bashing your inbox with boring vehicle reviews, the latest drab industry news or unnecessary data (you can get that from a Google search if you want it).

But...

You will find me sending alerts for vehicles I think are prime for a discount or a deal in the very near future, along with other cool insider tips to help you save and even make money on your next car purchase.

Why would I use Matt's Motor Club?

Every day cheap used cars are popping up and disappearing all around us. And if you don't happen to be searching for the right car at the right time - during that very brief window when it's available - you risk missing out on the best deals.

What MMC does is to ensure you never miss out on that deal of a lifetime because you're busy getting on living your life.

It all started when I purchased a beautiful 10-month-old Audi valued at £27,000 for just £20,000. It was one of several vehicles I had been monitoring, I received a notification within 5 minutes of it being discounted... had I not been aware of this motor at this time, I would never have nabbed it.

Our goal is to provide our members with early alerts on potential deals, ensuring they save money by never missing out on those fantastic opportunities whenever they arise.

We also try to remove the anxiety out of car buying - after all, car buying is one of the most stressful purchases we can make and of course, it's also one of the most expensive!...

Most people don't want to be searching for motors for 10, 12 or 18 hours a day... So instead they leave that to us.

We search for these motors while our members get on living, knowing that they'll get the heads up on potential deals before anyone else even knows about them.

What makes a Secret Steal?

The concept of a Secret Steal is straightforward—it’s all about giving you an early alert so you can be the first to act on a potential car discount or negotiation opportunity.

Unlike tracking price drops for common items like airline tickets or electronics, where discounts apply to numerous identical items, the used car market is different. Often, there’s only one, or perhaps just a few cars of a particular make or model available at a dealership. If you wait for the price to drop publicly, it’s likely too late. The car will probably already be sold.

At MMC, Secret Steals take a proactive approach. We predict which vehicles are likely to be subject to price negotiations or discounts soon—cars that dealers are keen to sell quickly.

How do we do it? Our team uses advanced technology to monitor the market constantly. We analyse data on market trends, residual values, vehicle availability, and dealer inventory.

But it’s not all algorithms and automation. Real people also consider various micro factors that affect a car’s desirability—things like the number of previous owners, the colour of the vehicle, and warranty specifics.

By combining this wealth of information, we pinpoint specific cars at specific dealerships that are prime candidates for a Secret Steal. We then communicate these opportunities directly to our members.

That’s the essence of our Secret Steal service—ensuring you know about the best deals before anyone else does, so you’re always one step ahead in the car-buying game.

How do you find the Secret Steals?

Brute force, a few boring systems and a little bit of clever tech.

I've got very efficient at navigating online marketplaces, dealer websites, trends, market data and vast data lakes in order for me to make my predictions.

Quite frankly, I'm a bit of a nerd and have way too much time.

Where do you find the Secret Steals?

All of the Secret Steals we find are from car dealers.

The dealers are both large and small - from main franchise dealers to car supermarkets to small independents.

We do not monitor private car sales.

Why?

I'm a firm believer that if you're going to spend thousands of pounds on a vehicle then you absolutely should buy from a dealer.

As an absolute minimum, when you buy from a dealer, you are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 which means if a car you purchase develops a fault within 30 days you are entitled to reject it and request a full refund.

Likewise, if the car develops various faults within the first 6 months, you can reject it under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The onus is on the car dealership to prove that the car was free of faults and roadworthy when sold.

Finally, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 also means you are entitled to a cooling-off period when you have made any kind of purchase online. This means that if the car is bought without seeing it, like over the phone or online, the buyer has 14 days to reject their order and get a full refund.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 is hugely beneficial and the number one reason why we only track dealers.

Of course, most dealers also provide extended warranties which will further enhance your protection... although in reality many of these aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Believe it or not, despite the stigma around used car salesman, most motor dealers do provide a purpose (and in most cases a good service) and buying from them provides you with solid protection on what is a sizeable expenditure.

You won't get this peace of mind and protection when you buy from a private seller on Facebook marketplace, eBay etc. The risk is all yours... and boy oh boy have we heard some nightmare examples 😱

Which car dealers do you work with?

We're not affiliated with any car dealers or manufacturers.

We scour the web for motors with the very best chance of getting a deal and send them your way.

We're completely unbiased and not looking to make a sale.

Are you a vehicle broker?

Nope, certainly not. Vehicle brokers go against the very ethos of MMC.

Why? Because brokers are there to take a slice of the pie... and it's a pie you are paying for.

You see when a broker helps transact a sale as a middleman they normally take a commission or fee from the dealer that sells the motor to you.

So, you pay the dealer and the dealer pays the broker.

But here's the thing... if that broker is being paid £500, £1000 or even £2000 for the sale... then that's effectively how much you overpaid for the vehicle. 🤢

Remember we're on your side, we have nothing to sell you and take a commission from no one... we're here to shake things up a little!

Which motor manufacturers do you cover?

Currently, free Limited members receive alerts from the following BIG 12 manufacturers:

Audi, BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Vauxhall, VW and Volvo.

When we launch our upcoming Premium service, Premium members will also get access to all 32 brands that we cover.

Which body types do your cover?

Free Limited members receive alerts for hatchback & SUV vehicles.

These two body types are the big hitters on the market and account for approximately 80% of all used car sales.

When we launch our Premium service, Premium members will also get access to estates, coupes, cabriolets, MPVs and pick-ups for our weekly Secret Steal alerts.

Premium members will also be able to request a tailored report and choose vehicles from any body type.

Do you find motors for every budget?

Free Limited members can choose to receive alerts in one of these 3 price bands:

- Up to £10,000

- £10,001 - £20,000

- £20,001 - £30,000

Our upcoming Premium members will also get access to all vehicles in their chosen body types up to £50,000.

How many emails can I expect?

This depends on how many insanely cheap motors we expect to be discounted very soon.

We don't take commissions for your clicks and are not affiliated with any motor manufacturers or dealers, so we'll only send you an alert when we think something special is about to happen.

Each email we send will focus on one of the 12 big brands and will include a number of vehicles for your chosen budget and vehicle type.

You'll have total control over the emails we send and you'll be able to pause, turn them off or unsubscribe as and when you wish.

Can you help me find a specific vehicle?

Our free Limited membership has grown so quickly that we can no longer keep up with the sheer number of requests from members for tailored searches.

With that said, we do encourage our free members to reply to our alert emails with requests for specific vehicles they would like to see alerts for.

We read every request we receive and whilst we can't make any guarantees, we do our very best to assist... so keep an eye on your inbox and I'm sure a vehicle you'll like will come up sooner or later!

Upcoming Premium members, as part of their membership, will get personal email access to Matt and will be able to make a request for a tailored report for a very specific vehicle type.

Can you find any and every kind of car?

A big part of the ethos behind MMC is how we lean into the unexpected choices that await on the other side of a Secret Steal.

This means that we send you email alerts on the best Steals & Deals we can find, which are based on the manufacturer, body type (e.g. SUV) and budget, making the motors we send you a surprise when they land in your inbox!

From a practical level, this allows us to manage the thousands of motors (and numerous options) more easily but more importantly it adds to the sense of fun, as our members get to see motors that they might not normally have considered.

It's also worth us mentioning that of course some makes and models are far rarer than others (due to supply and demand) which means we can't guarantee that Steals will be available for every combination of vehicle, colour, mileage, body type etc.

With that said, upcoming Premium members will also get personal email access to Matt and can make a request for a tailored report for a very specific vehicle type... just remember we are reliant on the market at any given time!

Will the vehicles be located near me?

We scour for motors right across the UK and work on the basis that if a deal or discount is that good, then it's worth driving a few hours to get it.

Obviously, some urban parts of the country have far more stock availability than other more rural areas and this will be reflected in the Steals we find.

With that said, as part of our onboarding sequence we do ask our members where in the country they are located and we use this data to help refine our selections.

Upcoming Premium members will also get to filter by location from their online dashboard.

Do you physically inspect every vehicle?

No we don't... and for obvious reasons!

We would need a small large army to go out and check every vehicle that we find which of course would be hugely expensive, a logistical nightmare and very bad for the planet.

It's for this reason that we remind you in every communication that you should always carry out due diligence on any motor you're interested in and likewise the reputation of the dealer you intend to buy from.

We are not affiliated with any dealer or manufacturer and make no assurances about the quality, condition, ownership or reputation of any vehicle or dealer we notify you about.

MMC is an alert service. The motors, dealers, prices and all other elements of the buying process are your responsibility, not Matt's Motor Club.

If you need some assistance with a pre-purchase vehicle check (and don't have a friend who can assist) then check out the AA or RAC, both of which offer pre-purchase vehicle inspections.

Do all the dealers play ball?

The first thing for us to point out is that we don't work hand in hand with any car dealers.

In fact, they have no absolutely no knowledge of the vehicles we identify that are prime for a discount...it's one of the reasons we call them secret 😉.

So the dealers don't actually know they're playing ball with us and they certainly don't know that we're informing our members!

As we've previously mentioned, Secret Steals by their very nature are predictions and there is no guarantee that any dealer will be ready to discount or negotiate.

Using our own historical figures, what we can say is that around three in four Secret Steals will be discounted within an 8 week period of our identifying them.

In many of these cases, further reductions will also be able to be negotiated with the dealer, as they will be particularly keen to sell them.

There are all sorts of reasons why some don't get discounted, but here are the most common...

Vehicles with a budget of less than £10,000 tend to have fewer discounts - this is for a multitude of reasons including they tend to be stocked by smaller independent dealers, have less margin, less depreciation, higher demand and don't carry the same cashflow liability for the dealer.

Vehicles located near a city where ultra-low emission zones (ULEZ) are being implemented - the perfect example being London, but many other cities across the UK are following suit. This means cars (in particular low-priced vehicles) that are ULEZ compliant are in high demand in those areas, hence local dealers will be content to hold onto them for longer.

High-end luxury motors with more demand than supply - as in any market if you've got more demand than product to supply, then prices remain high regardless of all other factors. High-end luxury motors, supercars and classic cars all fall into this category and whilst our service has had success with some of these cars it is far less likely that these dealers will play ball.

Smaller Independent Dealers are under less downward pressure (or are just plain stubborn) - most smaller dealers operate on their own terms (unlike larger dealers who have KPIs to hit) and this can make them more unpredictable as the decisions are typically made by one person - the owner. We see Independent dealers defy both business and market logic on a daily basis by refusing to drop prices and who are still holding them in stock at the same price... a whole year later!? Hey, it's their prerogative but we still like to call it madness.

Many dealers would sooner negotiate and discount with a serious customer rather than discount online - this one is common and is usually because the dealer has a policy not to do wholesale discounts online or, more probably, because they're just plain busy and don't have the time or resources to make the adjustments at all. Either way, if you're serious about a car then simply speaking with the dealer will usually generate further rewards.

Do you find cheap brand new cars as well?

No, we only track, check and monitor used pre-owned vehicles... that's any car that has been registered and has at least one owner on the logbook.

To clarify, that could be any car from a nearly new pre-registered car sitting on a dealer's forecourt with delivery miles right up to a 10 year old motor with 99,000 miles on the clock (10 years old & 100,000 miles is our cap).

But when it comes to new cars, we're what you might call prudent folk.

We have always seen the new vehicle market as a necessary evil. Necessary because without new vehicles there quite obviously would be no used vehicles. Evil because in the vast majority of cases, vehicles are driven off the forecourt and drop by thousands of pounds before they've done enough miles to drain their first tank.

The fact is that at best most motors are a depreciating asset (most financial experts would go one step further and call them a liability!) and except for the mad 18 months of the post covid world, the biggest fall in a vehicle price has always been the period between it being first registered and first driven on the road.

Only big businesses, fleets, rental companies and dumb people buy new vehicles....

So let them get their double shot of new glue smell & dopamine fix (with that twitch from their neighbour's curtains) and let them take the financial hit.

We believe buying a new car is nothing short of madness and we like to think that our members agree and are much smarter and better than that too.

Do all of the Secret Steals come good?

In a word... No. This is an art, not a science.

Secret Steals by their very nature cannot be guaranteed. What we can say is that we have a super high success rate and in many cases, you'll see multiple discounts for the same motor over the course of a few weeks!

We predict our Secret Steals using a range of systems, processes and data we have in our possession - but the fact remains - Secret Steals are predictions.

And of course, there are many variables that are outside of our control.

For instance, main franchise dealers operate differently from car supermarkets who operate differently from small independent dealers. And each dealer will have their own internal pressures and policies when it comes to discounting and negotiating.

Sometimes it can come right down to whether the salesperson you're dealing with got out of bed on the right side that morning.

With that said, every dealer does have similar pressures for things like cash flow, stock funding, overaged stock, stock turnaround, and sales targets and of course, is susceptible to wider market conditions. It's these factors (and many others) that we hone in on and build our predictions on.

Finally, to be totally transparent we do (very rarely - less than 1.2%) see prices increase despite our best efforts. This might seem strange but there are a few reasons for this...

For starters, some dealers have dynamic pricing systems that track market prices so if there is a spike in price for a particular model it will automatically increase the price despite the other factors - these increases tend to be only temporary and are typically reduced again a few days or weeks later.

Likewise, some unscrupulous dealers will also increase their prices only to reduce them just a few days later... they do this, purely so they can say they've just discounted them 🤥.

I've been monitoring a Secret Steal but it didn't get discounted?

If a dealer hasn't discounted a vehicle online within a certain period of time, it doesn't mean they don't need to sell the vehicle and that they aren't prepared to do a fantastic deal with you.

The simple fact is that many dealers are just too busy to track and monitor their stock and the constant market fluctuations surrounding them.

Other dealers rely on automated systems (which aren't always reliable) or a single used sales manager (who could be busy, on holiday, sick or down the pub :) and others will just have a policy not to discount to anyone other than a serious buyer.

So I repeat, just because a dealer hasn't discounted a Secret Steal vehicle on their website doesn't mean they don't need to sell it...

In fact, it's quite to the contrary...

When we identify a Secret Steal, it's because in our view, for any number of reasons, they really do need to sell it... and having that knowledge puts you the negotiating customer in a position of strength.

And when you're armed with this knowledge and ready to negotiate (or make an offer) with a dealer then the next most important thing you can do is...

Talk to the right person!

Don't talk to a sales exec who has no authority to discount, instead talk (or email your offer) to a retail sales manager, used sales manager... or for smaller dealers... the owner.

In simple terms, you want to talk to the person that is responsible for the used vehicle stock... they'll know what it owes them, how long they've held it, whether it's still funded and if new similar stock is arriving.

All of which puts them in the perfect position to negotiate a deal with you.

I'm only concerned about my monthly payments so how could MMC help me?

Don't be fooled by the monthly price that most dealers flirt at you.

Yes, £399 for a nearly new Jag might look attractive but the simple fact is that only focusing on the monthly payment will cost you thousands of pounds over the time you run the vehicle.

Manufacturers have long been pushing dealers to present their vehicles more like a mobile phone contract than a car purchase... and it works... let's face it, £399/month looks way more attractive than £45,000 any day of the week!

But here's the thing... cars aren't phones!... the average car is 20-50 times more expensive than the latest iPhone and the numbers at play are truly eye-watering.

And what more...

Oftentimes... until you're in the hands of a preying sales exec... there'll be very little mention of whether it's a lease, PCP or HP finance product, whether there are mileage restrictions, initial lump sum payments, end-of-term payments etc, etc.

These all have a huge bearing on your purchase and the overall lifetime cost of ownership of the vehicle.

So please, please... never, ever look at just the monthly cost of a vehicle!

Always look at the lifetime cost of ownership.

And how do you find this?

Well, it's incredibly easy!...

The starting point is by negotiating the advertised purchase price... which of course is what we focus on 🥳

It keeps it simple and once you've negotiated a price you're happy with then everything else will fall into place... you'll be able to sit down with the sales exec or business manager, discuss your part exchange and look at your finance options (which of course if you have a strong credit rating can be negotiated on as well!) and discuss your monthly payments.

Oh and congrats, you'll have just beaten the system and saved yourself another bucket load of cash. Good job.

Why should I sign up? I'm not thinking of buying a car right now.

MMC is perfect for people who aren't in a rush to buy.

Why?...

If you don't have plans to purchase a car right now, but think you might want to purchase one sometime later, you'll get a better deal if you receive our Secret Steal and Real Deal alerts.

The fact is that every day we find new motors which we tell our members about and of course the more you receive the better the chance you'll find a super deal on your next used motor!

Likewise, by monitoring the vehicles that we send you over a given time, you'll naturally see more and more gems pop up and you'll 10x your chances of getting your next motor for ££££'s less.

In fact, it's for this very reason (and the fact that the average person takes between 6-8 weeks to buy a new car) that we provide our paid members with lengthy 6 & 12 month plans so they have more than enough time to find the perfect motor.

So unless you like paying full price on your next motor, sign up for a membership today and keep your eyes peeled for our Steals & Deals.

Are you saying you've reinvented the wheel Matt?

No, we don't profess to be the miracle cure for used car buying.

What we do at MMC is unlikely to change how the vast majority of people buy their used cars (although we'll keep trying of course!).

When it comes to car buying most people are lazy and easily led. They'll view some online ads, visit the dealer and then get sucked in by the salesperson's patter and before they know it, they're hooked into a purchase, have spent way more than they should have and have another HP agreement to their name.

But here's the thing... it's a trap!... and the manufacturers and dealers know it... that's why sales execs are trained extensively on how to sell with emotions and ultimately how the dealers make their vast profits.

At MMC we're shaking things up a bit,... by delving deeper and looking at the data beyond the car advert.

We combine technology, the internet, vast data lakes and public information so that we can make predictions on when vehicles will be discounted or are more likely to be easily negotiated on.

What we're doing is an art, not a science and we can't guarantee that every Secret Steal will come off (there are too many circumstances outside of our control to do that) likewise, it involves a little work from yourself, for instance tracking a vehicle or negotiating with the dealer.

Lazy people will see this all as too much hard work.

But our members aren't lazy...

They're not afraid to do things a little differently, they're smarter than the average bear, they like to gain the high ground, and they're prepared to play a longer game (and it's a game that can actually be fun).

And guess what, they're far richer (literally) because of it 😉

Will you be capping the number of members?

In order to maintain our service and ensure that our members get the most from it, it's important for us to manage its growth and ensure that demand doesn't outstrip supply.

We currently cap our Limited membership to 10,000 members.

Our upcoming Premium membership will also be capped at much lower numbers to ensure that we provide the best possible service for our paid members.

As a free Limited member, you'll have the option to upgrade to a Premium member as and when membership becomes available. Once we reach capacity then you'll be able to join our waitlist which will give you priority access for when the doores open again.

As members leave and/or our capacity increases then we will re-open the doors as and when it's suitable to do so.

Whilst we aim to increase the number of members and help more people save money, we are mindful of the fact that there is a finite number of vehicles on the open market at any one time.

How do I become a Premium member?

The only way to become a Premium member of MMC is to become a free Limited member first.

Once you're a Limited member then if there's availability, you'll be able to upgrade to Premium membership.

If Premium membership is at full capacity then you'll be able to join the waitlist which means you'll get priority notice of when the doors are next open.

Do you really do this all by yourself?

I've been using this concept to purchase vehicles successfully for friends, colleagues and myself for over 7 years now and in that time I've pretty much perfected the system in a way that provides pretty consistent results.

Over the last 18 months, the list has grown so quickly that I'm now assisted by a small and wonderful team of Secret Agents - all helping me dig through thousands of motors each month so that our members don't have to.

Why do you do this anonymously?

Ok, so you noticed my avatar wasn't real! (Good spot)

I decided to build MMC anonymously for several reasons...

1) I'm not great with publicity.

2) I hate having my photo taken.

3) I like living my life quietly and without much of a fuss.

4) I would sooner my peers don't know as it might muddy relationships.

5) I have no intention of becoming the next Martin Lewis (top man by the way!).

So whilst you can't see me, I can confirm that my name is Matt and I am a real person who has a simple desire to help people.

Matt, I just purchased! How can I return the favour?

Thrilled to be of help!

If you're enjoying my Secret Steal alerts then I would love you to share Matt's Motor Club with your best friends. We're starting a savvy cheap motor revolution here!

In order to maintain our service and ensure that our members get the most from it, it's important for us to manage it's growth and ensure that demand doesn't outstrip supply.

We don't currently cap our Limited membership as it acts as both a taster and ticket to upgrade to Premium membership.

As a free Limited member you'll have the option to upgrade immediately or if we're at full capacity then you'll be able to join our waitlist which will give you priority access.

Whilst we aim to increase the number of members and help more people save money, we are mindful of the fact that there is a finite number of vehicles on the open market at any one time.

Is the Premium free trial offer really time sensitive?

If you're fortunate enough to see a live offer on this page (rather than the waitlist page) then you're in luck... no really you are!

To maintain membership levels we regularly close our doors at which time members are added to a waitlist. (If you can't see the offer on this page then check the next FAQ down - about waitlist times).

If you don't take advantage of the offer immediately (which you should as the doors don't stay open for long!) then unfortunately you will miss out and you won't see this particular offer ever again.

I've had to join the Waitlist... how long before the doors open again?

As MMC grows we are constantly monitoring our membership numbers, which means we frequently close our doors to new members.

If you've reached this page and cannot immediately take a free trial of Premium membership then you will be presented with a simple waitlist option.

Simply click the button and you'll be added to the priority list and we'll notify you as soon as the doors open again.

We typically open our doors either...

a) Once a month for a period of 5-7 days.

b) Once a month for a limited number of new members.

So the typical wait time is approximately 4-6 weeks.

TIP:

To ensure you don't miss out on the next intake we recommend (if you haven't already) that you whitelist our emails so that you're the first to know - as otherwise you could miss out!

How many of the motor alerts can I expect?

It depends on how many we can unearth, but on average we dig up around 3000-4000 a month across all motor types.

As a Premium Member, you can expect somewhere between 500-1000 new motor Deals & Steals that match your criteria each month (that's 100-250 per week or 6,000-12,000 per year!).

Limited members receive substantially less than this.

On top of this Premium Plus members also receive a tailored search once every month which includes 10 highly targeted and personal Steals. Premium members can also request a tailored search on a pay as you go service.

What motor manufacturers do Premium Members receive?

Limited members receive alerts for the following BIG 12 manufacturers...

Audi, BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Vauxhall, VW & Volvo.

Premium, Premium Plus & Elite members receive alerts for all the manufacturers (including the BIG 12 above) that we cover including the following...

Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Cupra, Dacia, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, KIA, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, MG, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Seat, Subaru, Suzuki, Tesla & Toyota.

We're constantly on the lookout and will add or remove manufacturers as we see fit.

Please note: Whilst we track and monitor all 34 of the above manufacturers there is no guarantee that we will find new motors from each brand in any given period. The reason is that each vehicle type will have its own supply restrictions, which could be either regional or national and temporary or continuous. So whilst the BIG 12 have a high frequency of alerts other manufacturers such as Tesla, Cupra and MG will be less frequent.

How many emails will I see from each manufacturer?

We monitor each and every vehicle manufacturer every single day, however, to keep a sense of order across what are tens of thousands of motors we follow a set process on how and when we alert our members of new Steals & Deals...

Limited Members - Secret Steals:

Limited members get a Secret Steal email alert twice every week - Wednesday & Saturday evening.

Each email will focus on Secret Steals from one of the BIG 12 brands (Audi, BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Vauxhall, VW & Volvo) which means you'll receive one alert email from each of the BIG 12 manufacturers every 6 weeks for your chosen body types.

All members receive the alert emails. Premium & Elite members receive them typically 1-2 days before Limited members receive them.

Premium, Premium Plus & Elite Members - Secret Steals:

Premium & Elite members get a Secret Steal email alert three times a week - every Monday, Wednesday & Saturday evening as per the schedule below...

Premium & Elite members receive the Secret Steals from the BIG 12 manufacturers every Wednesday & Saturday evening (1-2 days before Limited members) for your chosen body types.

Premium & Elite members also receive a BIG Multibrand alert email every Friday evening with Secret Steals from 5-6 other manufacturers (Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Cupra, Dacia, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, KIA, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, MG, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Seat, Subaru, Suzuki, Tesla & Toyota) which means you'll see new Steals & Deals from every manufacturer we monitor at least once every 6 weeks for you chosen body types.

The Monday email alert includes a link to a private database where Premium & Elite members can search and view all the motors we've found that week that match their criteria, including EVs and hybrid vehicles.

Premium, Premium Plus & Elite Members - Real Deals:

Premium & Elite members also receive additional Real Deal alert emails as and when we find a Real Deal that matches your chosen body type.

The Real Deals emails vary based on the frequency, market conditions and as and when we find them.

What additional body types can I choose as a Premium member?

All members get the choice of the BIG categories of motors.... that is SUV or Hatchback & Saloon.

Due to their popularity, there are considerably more of these three types of vehicles on the road than any other body type.

In addition to their main body choice above, Premium members also receive alerts for Coupe, MPV, Cabriolet, Estate and Pick-Ups. Please note that SUV or hatchback & saloon cannot be made as a second choice.

Elite members get access to all vehicle body types.

Whats the difference between a Real Deal and a Secret Steal?

Glad you asked!...

A Secret Steal is the term we use for vehicles that we predict will be either discounted shortly or where the dealer will be open for negotiation. These are vehicles that the dealer will be under pressure to sell due to a number of factors including the length of time they have held them in stock, national and local market availability, demand and vehicle-specific factors such as colour, number of owners and service history.

In simple terms a Secret Steal is a vehicle that will be available as a deal in the not too distant future - we normally see discounts within 8 weeks of identifying them - which are vehicles that you'll get the nod on so that you can track them for discounts or try and negotiate on before they're being discounted.

We're pretty good (even if we do say so ourselves!) at predicting what is and isn't a Secret Steal and whilst not every vehicle will be discounted and not every dealer will necessarily play ball, it does give you a unique insight into the used car market that you just can't get anywhere else.

A Real Deal is the term we use for vehicles that we have identified as already offering incredible value for money. We're usually talking thousands of pounds cheaper than the vehicle should actually be. This is a big deal not just because of the money you could save so quickly but also because it gets around the concerns so many people have when it comes to the BS that can come out of the mouth of a used car salesman when they're trying to make a sale.

You see, an inherent problem within the motor trade is trust... because customers don't really know what is and isn't a real deal... there are so many offers, discounts and deals bounded about that it becomes almost impossible to know.

To tackle this issue many online advertising platforms have incorporated tools & gauges to help identify where the price of each vehicle sits... the problem with these is that they use automated bots and algorithms which do not include any of the most important factors such as the number of owners, warranties, the service history, regional supply and car modifications etc.

The fact that we are independent and unbiased with real people checking each motor gives us the unique advantage of being able to really determine what is and isn't a Real Deal.

How do I get a Tailored VIP search?

Premium Plus & Elite members can request a Secret Steals search tailored specifically to their requirements directly from Matt once every 30 days.

The advantage of a tailored search is obvious... but we'll explain anyway!

Unlike our weekly Secret Steal alerts, which are sent out to all Premium, Premium Plus & Elite members as an email newsletter (plus inclusion within a private database), the tailored monthly Secret Steals are specific, purely to your requirements :)

You'll be able to make a new request once every 30 days throughout your membership and doing so is simple...

Just click the tailored link that you'll find within any weekly alert email that you receive. Once clicked this will open a page with an email form that you simply complete with your requirements and then click the button to send it to us.

We'll get back to you by email ASAP* with a private list of the top 10 Steals for your own specific requirements.

If you can't see the form when you click through to the page then that's because you've already made a request within the 30 day limit. Once 30 days are reached from your last request then the form will automatically appear again.

Premium Plus Free Trial Requests - Please note:

If you request a tailored search whilst in your initial free trial period then please be advised that unfortunately due to abuse of this service, we will not be able to supply your report until your free trial is over and you have become a fully paid member.

*We usually reply with your tailored report within 1-2 working days (and sometimes much quicker!)

Where can I see the Deals & Steals?

Limited members receive their Steals by email only - we send two emails per week - one email every Wednesday & Saturday evening.

The emails are kept short so that they're easy to digest but they also show you all the cool criteria (that no one else shows you!) for the vehicle including the trade price, estimated dealer margin and the number of days the vehicle has been advertised.

You'll also be able to view other value-driven benefits such as warranties, service history details and the number of owners all of which have an inherent value and which every online advertising platform ignores (because they're using bots and not people!).

Premium and Elite members get the alerts emails and they also get the benefit of being able to view all of the above plus loads more info from within an online database. The online database also allows each member to filter their searches for every vehicle by almost any parameter.

Are Premium & Elite Steals & Deals really that much better?

We have three membership levels: Limited, Premium and Elite.

Limited is our 100% free membership. Limited members receive a small sample selection of Secret Steals for either SUV or Hatchback vehicles across 12 of the biggest manufacturers (Audi, BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Vauxhall, VW & Volvo). These alerts are for petrol and diesel vehicles only and for one of three budgets, either under £10,000, £10,001-£20,000 or £20,001-£30,000.

Premium is our low cost paid membership plan which comes with a free trial period and is available on a monthly, 6 month or 12 month plan. Premium members get way more Steals as they get every motor from every manufacturer we find up to £50,000 (for a limited time - see bonus) for their main vehicle choice (of SUV or Hatchback) plus the following body types of Cabriolet, MPV, Estate, Coupe and Pick-Up.

Premium members also get Hybrid and Electric vehicles plus any Real Deals that we find - Real Deals, are motors that already represent a crazy low price!

Premium Plus is our most popular membership plan which comes with a free trial period and is available on a 6 or 12 month plan. Premium Plus members get everything that our Premium members do plus one tailored search every 30 days which is personalised specifically to them.

Premium Plus members also get the benefit of being able to view all of their Steals & Deals in our Clubhouse (coming soon) where they can filter and search by every parameter.

Elite is our top level membership plan which is also available on a 6 or 12 month plan. Elite members get everything Premium members do. But they also get so much more, including every vehicle choice (SUV, Hatchback, Cabriolet, MPV, Saloon, Estate, Coupe and Pick-Up) and vehicles over £50,000.

Elite members also get free HPI reports (worth £14.95 each), a monitoring service (where we monitor the vehicles for them) along with a negotiation service (where we negotiate with the dealers on their behalf).

What are the benefits of the Clubhouse?

The Clubhouse is coming soon and will provide our Premium Plus and Elite members with a place to view and filter all of their Deals and Steals. It acts like its own private library and provides a huge amount of power and flexibility.

Firstly, the Hub allows you to filter and search through all of the thousands of Steals and Deals by every conceivable parameter including make, model, price, mileage, colour, doors, seats, gearbox, engine, fuel, ULEZ compliance, owners, service history, warranty to name just a few!

Secondly, each Deal & Steal has its own page with lots more details on each and every motor we find.

The Clubhouse makes finding a motor at an amazing price incredibly simple and easy to do.

Can you find me deals on specific vehicles?

We wish we could help find a specific motor by special request for every member but our service works in a different way to the rest of the motor trade. Due to the sheer number of vehicle brands, models and variants, it would prove to be a rather complex and costly task to do this for everyone that asks.

But with that said, we do have a couple of options for you:

All Members:

If you'd like to see more motor alerts based around a specific model, spec, age or budget then simply reply to any alerts email and let us know. We can't make any promises but we'll do our very best to accommodate!

Premium Plus & Elite Members:

As a Premium Plus or Elite member we'll provide you with a tailored search which will cover Steals & Deals based on a specific vehicle model. This tailored search will reveal the top 10 motors that we've found and predict will represent the best deals for your request... oh and don't forget they'll only be visible to you!

Of course, the other option would be to contact one of the thousands of motor brokers and agents across the country who will happily spend their time trying to source you an orange, 69-plate Ducksworth coupe (whatever that is?!) but just remember they'll be taking a hefty commission for doing so. ;)

As we said, we work differently... our mission is to find you amazing motor deals without the need for you paying us a fortune to do so. We think it makes sense and we're sure our members agree :)

Premium members save an average of £1890. Elite members can save substantially more than this.

I'm not ready to try Premium or Elite. Can I still get deals?

Of course!...

By becoming a free Limited member you'll get an alert email every Monday & Wednesday evening from us with a selection of Secret Steal motors for you to peruse.

Whilst Limited members don't get the larger numbers and choices that our Premium, Premium Plus & Elite members do you'll still receive somewhere between 1000-2000 motors to your inbox each year... which might just nab you a fantastic deal on your next motor for free!

Limited members also receive priority access to Premium, Premium Plus and Elite membership when the doors are closed.

I need to buy a new motor in a rush, are these Deals & Steals for me?

Our motor alerts will work for you no matter if you're buying now or next year, however, with that said if you're desperate for a vehicle and in a rush then MMC may not be the best option for you.

Our motor alerts range from cheap vehicles ready to buy now (our Real Deals) to vehicles that will be discounted months into the future (our Secret Steals), which gives you the best chance to find motors that fit any purchasing timeframe.

With that said, we do encourage our members to approach car buying in a different way... which is to see it as a process rather than an event and to "buy smart" by waiting until a great deal comes along.

Using your head (like a motor trader does), and not your heart, will save you a fortune. Likewise rushing in is rarely a good move.

But with that said, we know people change their motors for a variety of reasons, many of which are urgent.

Do you physically check every vehicle?

No, we don't... and for obvious reasons!

If you need some assistance with a pre-purchase vehicle check (and don't have a friend who can assist) then check out the AA or RAC, both of which offer pre-purchase inspections.

How do I use your service to buy a cheap motor?

It's simple and smart!...

When it comes to a Real Deal... When you're ready to buy, you'll purchase directly from the Dealer rather than our website. Remember to first carry out due diligence on the dealer by checking Google for reviews to check their reputation (Premium & Elite members can do this with one click inside their dashboard).

If you're happy to proceed then call the dealer, and check that you can reserve the vehicle with a refundable holding deposit using a credit card (never a debit card!). Pay the deposit and you'll have secured yourself a deal. All that's left for you to do is to visit the dealer, check the vehicle over (which you must always do!), take it for a spin and if you're happy purchase it. If you're not then get your deposit refunded and walk away.

When it comes to a Secret Steal... As these are motors that are likely to be discounted shortly, you have two choices:

1) Contact the Dealer: (Only contact a dealer if you're seriously interested in a motor. ) Make contact to see if they're open to negotiations. If they are then you'll be armed with all the information you need from MMC in order to negotiate a great deal. If you negotiated a deal then follow the process shown above for a Real Deal to nab it! If they're not up for negotiation then make them an offer with a timescale.

2) Monitor the Motor: If you don't want to contact the dealer then we'll show you how to track it for free so that you're notified the moment that they reduce the vehicle... and believe us they will! When they do, you'll be the first to know and you'll be able to contact them using the processes detailed above.

Can I use MMC for trade or business use?

In a word, No.

It's important for us to remind you that as stated in our terms & conditions, we provide our service for the use of private consumers, in a non-commercial capacity and for your own personal benefit.

We impose this condition as the ethos behind MMC is for our members to save money with the large personal expenditure surrounding a motor purchase.

It is not designed as a tool for the trade to make money and we have procedures in place to prevent abuse of our service. Anyone found to be using MMC for trade or business use will be removed from our platform with immediate effect and with no refund.

We're sorry if that sounds harsh but it's important to us that we maintain the integrity of MMC for the benefit of all our members.... not just for a greedy few.

Do you allow advertisements from motor dealers?

No.

We are not affiliated with any dealer and neither do we have any preferred dealers.

We accept no dealer advertising and we take no commissions from dealers.

Likewise, we do not stock our own vehicles.

What you see on MMC are purely vehicles that we have identified as either already being a fantastic "Real Deal" or alternatively a "Secret Steal" which is likely to be heavily discounted in the near future.

Do you find cheap brand new cars as well?

No, we only track, check and monitor used or pre-owned vehicles... that's any car that has been registered and has at least one owner on the logbook.

The fact is that almost every motor is a depreciating asset (some would call it a liability!) and except for the mad 18 months of the post covid world, the biggest fall in a vehicle price has always been the period between it being first registered and first driven on the road.

Dumb people happily buy a new vehicle every 2-3 years so that they can get their double hit of new glue smell & dopamine fix (with that twitch from their neighbour's curtains). More fools them... let them take the hit!

We believe buying a new car is nothing short of madness and we like to think that our members agree and are much smarter and better than that.

So why a membership site?

I created the club off the back of an email list that began with a handful of close friends, relatives and ex-customers... all of whom received my email updates on super cheap used cars and vans when I found them.

This simple idea took me initially just a few minutes a day... Whenever I found a cheap motor that I wasn't personally interested in, I would shoot them a quick email.

These became what are now known as my "Real Deals".

The idea was initially just a quick off the cuff gesture to help... afterall how often do people buy a new car?... once every 2 or 3 years maybe.

But the feedback was better than I expected...

People enjoyed the emails as it gave them a different outlook on car buying (I would tell them the trade prices as well as the retail prices), it also saved them wasting hours of their lives searching online and perhaps best of all the emails created an element of surprise... many of those early members quite literally couldn't wait to see what would turn up in their inbox next!

In short, I had unbeknowingly turned car buying into a fun simple ongoing process and not a stressful time limited event (car salesmen (& women) take note).

Over the following months I also began to include details of vehicles that I predicted would be discounted, which added a new dimension to the email alerts and one which actively got the recipients involved... as I showed those early members how to track these motors online themselves for discounts.

These became what are now known as my "Secret Steals".

What started out as a whim, had inadvertently become a new, different and fun way to buy a car... but perhaps best of all, when it worked, it would save my members thousands of pounds on their purchase.

The members on my list could now buy a motor on their terms and when it suited them... as apposed to when they were desperate and in the clutches of a salesman.

Now with the official creation of MMC, you too can get in on the act.

Have fun. Buy Smart. Save money.

Why do you charge a membership fee?

Great question!... So why do we charge a membership fee?... After all you could just jump on Autotrader, Ebay or Facebook and find a motor yourself for free, right?

Well, yes, of course, you could do that... but if you think you're doing that for free you would be highly mistaken.

The simple fact is that the motor industry is a wash with money... vehicles are bought in at trade prices, and then prepped as cheaply as possible so that they can be moved out the front door to a customer like yourself at retail prices.

The dealer needs to have enough profit in a vehicle to be able to pay for all their overhead, wages, bills, advertising and commission so that they have enough cash to buy the next motor. Then it's rinse and repeat.

And you the customer are paying for that... you're sucked into the system because there is no alternative (until now of course) and you are paying top dollar for the privilege.

MMC is different, we don't make a penny from a sale because we're not affiliated with any dealer, we don't accept advertising on our platform and we have no preferred suppliers.

That's right we don't get a kickback, commission or fee from anyone as we are on your side.

For most households, the purchase of a motor vehicle is the second most expensive purchase after a house. We're not talking a pint of milk here with 2p profit per litre... we're talking vehicles with thousands of pounds of profit in them which can represent a massive saving in your pocket if... you buy right.

Our mission is to sort the wheat from the chaff and to find motors that save our members ££££'s and in return, we ask for a small one-time fee to cover our service and keep the lights on.

We think that's fair and we hope you do too ;)
